Live (10 hours later) from Chico!!!

SPECIAL CONGRATS TO THE UNIVERSITY OF THE PACIFIC FOR SHOWING UP WITH A BRIDGE THIS SEASON. BIG STOCK WAS IN THE HOUSE, GO TIGERS!

Mid-Pac Rules Again, be it spirit or all-around project and technical prowess, hands down lovin' me the students of NorCal and Reno.

Steel Bridge

Overall

1st - UC Berkeley

2nd - UC Davis
3rd - Chico State

Lightness - UC Davis
Aesthetics - UC Berkeley
Speed - UC Davis
Stiffness - UC Berkeley
Economy - UC Davis
Efficiency - UC Berkeley

It was pretty close overall, and while I firmly believe the Aggies have the most room to improve, I wouldn't put it past Cal and it's highly unique design concept, to challenge for a top 3 spot at Purdue. Chico State showed a lot of heart, if they can string together a couple of seasons with some carryover, they could begin to start challenging again for some awards and a top 2 spot at MidPac, which will be at Big Sac next spring. The hosting job was unbelievable by Chico, the people were extremely friendly and civil, and the MidPac Spirit lives on!

Concrete Canoe

Overall

1st - Nevada, Reno
2nd - San Jose State
3rd - UC Davis

Design Paper - San Jose State
Races - Nevada, Reno
Oral Presentation - San Jose State
Final Product -
Nevada, Reno

The story of the day Friday morning was Cal's medieval inspired canoe failing during the first endurance race. It was an unrecoverable blow to their final score as both, the 300, and the Bossy Cow Cows were able to leap frog da Bears in the Overall. Dramatic yes, but this is how we all learn unfortunately. Regardless, San Jose State and the Wolf Pack are headed to San Luis Obispo...and you know what that means...the most spirited duo of juggernauts are gonna be sounding it off all over the beach! SPIRIT BELL INVITED!!!

Water Treatment

1st - UC Berkeley
2nd - Cal Poly, SLO
3rd - UC Davis

Apparently, there will now be a NATIONAL WATER TREATMENT COMPETITION to be held this year (not sure where) in June. Any and everybody who has competed in the WTC should look to MidPac and ASCE/AGC members etc. etc. for the information needed in order to submit your papers and projects. Cool, cool stuff brewing this season.
